What are your biggest passions in life?

I’m passionate about doing creative work that’s meaningful. Being able to push boundaries in the industry and open doors for people who look like me, especially young girls. Having an Asian Canadian person to look up to - who is in a high position and doing well in the industry - because I never had that growing up, so that really inspires me to create good meaningful work.

As much as I can, I always try to bring in important issues that I care about into my work and be that voice in the room to call out certain things that shouldn’t be said in advertising by making suggestions that would resonate with people who look like me.

Are you celebrating anything this year?

There are so many things I’m celebrating this year! First of all, this job, I just started in February and thats a celebration. The position that I am in now is something that I wanted for so long and to finally get it, and to have all the pieces finally fall into place is just incredible. So I am celebrating conquering another dream that I had.

What advice would you give to your younger self?

Do what you want. Continue pursue what you’re good at and believe in yourself. It’s so easy to get discouraged or get imposter syndrome, so continue dong what you’re good at. Believe in yourself and you can achieve anything you set your mind to. You can dream big, and it’s not scary, and you can achieve it.

How do you stay motivated?

I stay motivated by knowing I can achieve anything I want. I don’t always feel like that. There are moments where I feel discouraged and don’t feel as motivated, but when it comes down to it, it’s the constant reminder to yourself that you can anything you want. Whatever it is that you’re doing, it will lead eventually to what you want to do.

Sometimes I work on projects that aren’t as exciting, but if If you’re able to take any project that comes to you and see it as another learning opportunity or opportunity to show your skills and work ethic, you will be put into bigger exciting projects. I feel like having that end goal in mind keeps me motivated.

Where do you like to spend your time?

I really like my alone time, especially in the summer. I really like to be outside. I’ve been getting up at 5am recently because I like sunrise SUP boarding. It’s this new hobby I’ve taken up. I basically do that for an hour, an hour and a half, to start my day. Any free time I have after work, I try to be outside as much as possible because summer is so short and I love it. I love being outside in the summer.

When do you feel most powerful?

What makes me feel most empowered is knowing that everything you do is not as big of a deal as you think it is. Life in general is not as serious as you think it is. Especially when you’re in your 20s. I think people get bogged down by what society wants us to do, what our parents want us to do, what our friends think - and you just need to cut out the noise and be like, “No, this is what I want, this is what I believe is right for me, and I’m just going to do it,” and you’re fully capable of doing it.

How do you put a look together?

I like to keep things simple. I like to wear one jewellery colour usually. Sometimes I mix and match, but I think just keeping things simple, chunky, and not overdoing it.

What does White mean to you?

It’s very clean and angelic. Especially in the summer, when you’re tanned, I feel really good wearing white. When people wear white, I feel like it brightens them up, their face, and it really brings out their features. White looks good on everybody.

What is your relationship with watches?

I haven’t worn a watch in a long time because I haven’t found one that I like. I used to wear watches a lot because I grew up watching my mom wear watches all the time since she actually worked in the jewellery industry for over 17 years. She’s very educated on watches and she grew up wearing my grandpa’s watches that were passed down to her. They were chunkier, made for men, but they looked so good on her wrist.I love the look of men’s watches on women’s wrists. I think it’s such a nice look. It’s so effortless and classic.
