Kelly Violet is a London-based tattoo artist who has spent 15 years forging her own path in blackwork tattooing. What began as DIY punk tattoos for friends has evolved into a distinctive style defined by florals, death motifs, and baroque-inspired designs.
Self-taught and shaped by her experiences with undiagnosed autism, Kelly draws inspiration from nature, movement, and energy rather than other artists. She is renowned for her raw authenticity, obsessive detail, and bold explorations of contrast—life and death, creation and destruction.

In her collaboration with VIEREN, Kelly took on a new canvas: the mechanical watch dial. Despite the unfamiliar medium, she approached it with the same care and ritual that define her tattoo practice.
Using ultra-fine ink on stainless steel, she created a one-of-a-kind timepiece featuring a miniature scene of elegant decay—a chrysanthemum in full bloom and slow collapse. This darkly romantic design serves as an ode to time's passage, precision, and permanence.

Kelly's relationship with time is complex. She is always aware of it, yet perpetually trying to outrun it. Creatively, she struggles with time and process, often getting caught up in the beauty of being enveloped by a never-ending moment.
Designing for VIEREN meant confronting time head-on, not just metaphorically, but literally: how to express something eternal in a space that measures every second. The resulting artwork is a meditation on contrast—life and death, creation and destruction, beauty and brutality..

Expressing herself within the confines of a 2cm x 3cm dial pushed Kelly's technical and artistic limits. Accustomed to working on large scales, she had to adapt her techniques to fit the miniature canvas. She experimented with various materials to find one that would adhere to the watch face without smudging.
Eventually, she used a Deleter calligraphy pen and Dr. Ph. Martin's Black Star matte black ink, which provided the desired precision and finish. The result is a piece that mirrors the depth, complexity, and darkness that define her signature style.
