“I do mini celebrations - celebrating the mini wins in work and in life.”
“I do mini celebrations - celebrating the mini wins in work and in life.”
What are you celebrating this year?
Pretty good question. Celebrating…I like to think of life as a bunch of mini celebrations. I always take on a bunch of projects - it always feels like there’s a beginning, a middle, and an end. I tend to give myself not a lot of free time in between projects but allow myself to celebrate with the homies at the very end. And that celebration can look something like a night off, maybe just a couple beers, throw on a movie, and eat a bunch of junk food cereal. For me, I celebrate the mini wins all the time and I never celebrate anything massive, because a massive celebration just leads to a week of suffering, like a massive hangover. I just keep it chill, I do mini celebrations, celebrating the mini wins in work and in life.
What three words best describe you?
Charismatic, ambitious, kooky.

What motivates you?
Life motivates me. I think I love experiences, and I love creating stuff, those are my two favourite things. By experiences I mean new experiences, like new things, and new things can come from everything, you know, whether I’m creating something that I haven’t created before, or reaching a new level in my career, or just going somewhere on a little trip. So what motivates me is just all the amazing things that life can offer. I can’t get enough of it, and because of those, the unknown motivates me. Like what if I could create a movie, then what would happen? What if I could go over here, go over there, meet this person, then what would happen? I just think that there’s so many amazing things in life, and there’s not enough time to do all of them. So I just try to do as much as I can to experience as much of life. So, you know, sitting still really makes me nervous, and unfulfilled, and depressive. I need to keep moving, and I need to keep doing things, and it’s the unknown and the new experiences in life - I just don’t want to miss out on anything. You only live once, right?
Where do you see yourself in five years?
Being in film, I’m trying to write a short or a feature film right now and in five years, I’d like to be creating art that you can experience on Netflix, or a movie theatre. That’s my long term goal. Trying to get there in five, that’d be great.

How do you power your time?
Power my time…I set alarms every once in a while, I create a lot of checklists.
What is your favourite watch and why?
I love the White Diamond one. I love anything that looks and feels like it’s from the 80’s. I love the 80’s - I tend to use a lot of references in my work, so that watch is my favourite for sure. Fire.

What challenges have you overcome?
Oh man. I mean everyday, there’s always little mini challenges. I think the biggest thing for me is just self-awareness. As soon as you can be more honest with yourself and be really honest with what’s going on, because you know in your hard of hearts what you need to fix and do differently in order to grow. Sometimes the thing we always need to do is the thing we always avoid, because it’s hard and we’re not used to it. For me, the challenges are just everyday, forcing myself to get up early and work harder, stay focused and not get distracted. I think distractions are the biggest killer in our ability to maximize our potential. So it’s mainly just trying to stay focused.
What advice would you give your younger self?
I’d probably say just slow down, as much as you can. I know I’ve always worked really hard, but that can actually catch up to you. So slow down and pace yourself, definitely give yourself breaks and time to process things, and just think a little bit more before you act. But it’s all part of the journey, so I don’t know, I’d just tell myself “good job”, but just be mindful.
